Summer Faith Formation Series

Why Summer Formation?

As Catholics, we believe that faith isn't just something that we do on Sundays; it is a way of life. That is why the Cathedral is introducing a Summer Formation series, to give families a place to continue the conversation of faith while away from our regularly scheduled activities at church.

How does it work?

Between July 11th September 5th, each week we will add one aspect of the Creed here for families to think about, talk about, and grow in appreciation of the central ideas of our faith. These will be linked to our Flocknote page A Family of Faith Summer 2021 where you will find the whole article. This page will be updated automatically with each new article. Simply pick on the topic you wish to reflect upon as the post is uploaded here:

Breakfast with God

On the Saturdays between July 10 and August 28th the Cathedral will offer this program for kids of all ages, every Saturday on Zoom at 8:00 am. This program provides children with age appropriate explanations of the Sunday readings and gives parents with young children an opportunity to focus on the Scripture readings and the homily in a light-hearted community atmosphere. Fr. O'Reilly and his little dog Buzz make frequent visits to Breakfast with God to share their wisdom with us!

Spanish Parents Group Leaders of the Blessed Sacrament

We meet once a week to prepare for classes for parents of children in family faith formation. We design our curriculum under the supervision of the Director of Education, Sister Lisa Marie, and organize extracurricular activities. Bring to class topics of interest based on the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. We talk about "News from our Pope", the life of the saints, Our Mother Mary, the Church and the Trinity. Our extracurricular activities bring the community together, including picnics twice a year, a Christmas play, Las Posadas (an Advent celebration), and more.
