Holy Hour of Reparation

Friday, January 5, 2024

The First Friday of each month immediately following the

12:10 Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel

Jesus implores us to stay, watch, and pray with Him, just as He did to His apostles: "My soul is sorrowful even unto death. Stay you here and watch with Me (Matthew 26:38)." Jesus told St. Margaret Mary to "make reparation for the ingratitude of men. Spend an hour in prayer to appease divine justice, to implore mercy for sinners, to honor Me, to console Me for My bitter suffering when abandoned by My apostles, when they did not watch one hour with me."

During this holy hour of reparation before the Blessed Sacrament, we will pray a Spiritual Communion, Acts of Reparation and Consecration to the Sacred Heart, and preparation for a Happy Death. Holy Hour of Reparation is a devotion much needed by our world today, amid its tragedies and sin.

Suggestion for Questions for Father about the Mass:

Since not everyone is bold enough to speak up and time is limited, please feel free to send questions on the topic of the Eucharistic celebration to Fr. O'Reilly's attention at flamealive22@gmail.com or hit reply to this Flocknote and we will compile a list of questions that he can address either at the next sessions or a special Q/A session.

Greetings everyone! This is going to be a great series and in order to get the most out of it Fr. O'Reilly asks that we all take a time to get familiar with and start reading the General Instructions for the Roman Missal (GIRM) so that we are familiar with the content.

Join us on Wednesdays and grow in your appreciation for and understanding of the Source and Summit of our Faith - the celebration of the Eucharist!

If you could not make it last Wednesday you can still join any time.

Rotary Club of South Sacramento and Parishioners Continue to Support the

Brown Bag Lunch (BBL) Ministry!

The Cathedral Brown Bag Lunch Ministry is pleased to announce that, for the third consecutive year, the Rotary Club of South Sacramento (RCSS) has presented a Grant Award to the BBL!

RCSS supports many diverse community services programs throughout the greater Sacramento area. The BBL is honored to be recognized for its continued service to the downtown Sacramento poor and homeless community and to be among the diverse group of 2023 RCSS award recipients.  Our heartfelt thanks to RCSS for the generous award of $1,500 and for its compassion for those in need.

In addition to the RCSS grant award, BBL volunteers would like to thank our monthly and constant supporters who repeatedly give of their time, talent, and treasure.  You remain a blessing to BBL.  Many thanks also to parishioners, students, families and individuals who lovingly, and generously, donate lunches, water, and other lunch supplies to BBL.  During the month of November 2023, all these kind acts of charity allowed BBL volunteers to distribute 2,300 lunches to our downtown brothers and sisters.

If you would like to donate lunches or lunch supplies to feed our downtown poor and homeless community, please contact marilynn_fairgood@att.net.

Revival’s in the Air

AN EXCITING JOURNEY AHEAD

The National Eucharistic Revival will foster Eucharistic devotion at the parish level, strengthening our liturgical life through the faithful celebration of the Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, missions, resources, preaching, and organic movements of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ invites us to return to the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. The National Eucharistic Revival is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to this great mystery here in the United States by helping us renew our worship of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
